Kate Paine has been working in the public relations, marketing and communications field for almost 20 years. A native Vermonter, she has worked in various roles for both private companies and non-profit organizations. From her college internship at CBS News, Inc. in New York to head of marketing and PR at Johnson State College, National Life and even to Cabot cheese, Kate co-owned her own media business, Mansfield Media Partners, from 2001 – 2005.
Her passion for making connections in and around Vermont was jump-started when she became the director of marketing and community relations for the Vermont Historical Society in 2006. She traveled the state extensively meeting Vermonters and “Vermonters at Heart” (a tag line she produced for the Vermont Historical Society) and learning about the state’s unique history and how we use that history to chart Vermont’s future.
In the early 1990s, Kate owned and operated a videography and photography business and worked for many private video production companies in Vermont and around New England.
She served as a past member of the board for the Lamoille Valley Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Montpelier chapter of the Women Business Owners Network from 2002-2005. When time allows, Kate volunteers for many community efforts. She has served as publicity chair for the Vermont division of the American Cancer Society’s Nordic Relay for Life event which premiered in Stowe in 2004 and in 2008 served as marketing chair for Stowe Rotary Club’s annual Oktoberfest event. While employed at the Vermont Historical Society, she also served on the marketing committee of the Vermont Attractions Association to help promote the Vermont History Museum at the Pavilion Building, next door to the State House, in Montpelier. Kate also donates her time to non-profit organizations needing consulting advice on their fund raising efforts.
Currently, Kate is a member of the Board of Directors for VSECU (the State’s largest credit union) and serves on the Board of the Clarina Howard Nichols Center. She is a
3-year volunteer member on the Public Policy Committee for Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR). Kate also works part-time as the executive director of the Women Business Owners Network (WBON).
